Board Description

War for the Hawaiian Islands.

ONLY on WarGear; gameboard by asm.

Fight over scarce landbound resources using tactical canoe maneuvers through the shallow waters surrounding the islands. Keep an eye out for the two imperial warships floating offshore in the nearby deep ocean.

Land territories are the only spaces that afford continent bonuses, though coastal territories do count towards your overall ownership bonus (1 army per 2 territories).

Use the shallow waters surrounding the islands to navigate your way between battlegrounds. Attacks between coastal and land zones attack and defend normally.

Each warship can attack every shallow coastal zone on its side of the archipelago, but cannot attack land areas. Warships roll 8-sided attack dice against normal (6-sided) defend dice. Coastal zones attack warships normally. Warships can hold no more than 7 units (no room onboard for men with all that firepower).

The two peaks on the big island contain no resources, so are not part of the continent bonus for the Big Island. However, holding both of them affords a +1 bonus due to their tactical value. Adjacent territories attack the peaks with 5-sided attack dice while the peaks defend and attack normally. Peaks are also capped at 7 units because there are few places to camp on their igneous slopes.
