Board Description

  • Each individual territory at an elevation higher than sea level is worth one more bonus army than the countries/territories in the level below it. You do NOT have to control the entire tier to get a bonus. There are a LOT of bonus armies to be gained.
  • There are NO "continent" bonuses for sea level territories. Hey, we're not playing "King of the Valley". Of course these territories do count towards the standard 1 army per 3 countries occupied allowance.
  • Uphill attacks add one side to the defender's dice.
  • There is a limit to the number of armies that you can put on a territory depending on its altitude as follows:

  • Occupation of any local peak will improve your visibility in that general area in line of sight fashion.
  • Strategy tip: The large mountain countaining the three prominences in the center of the board is home to 46% of the bonus units that are available on the map, and though the game can be won without controlling this area, it is usually folly to let one player control it uncontested.
