Nice quick and fun board, like it's sister Seven Redux, but prone to giving too much advantage to one of the players in the setup. The other scenarios might be better than Wild West but noone seems to want to play those. Default is a powerful thing.
This is the original Seven board, and has a neat finish with the swordsmen making the final blow. Some tips: try to control the center if possible, seek to advance as much as possible early in the game, prevent other player from getting on "your" side (which can be the left/right and/or top/bottom of board), and always keep an eye on how many pieces both you and your opponent have. You can have great control of the board, and still lose because your opponent got to 23 before you did, Great strategy board!
Great concept, however this map fails to grab my attention where Five and Ten have succeeded. Notably I feel that the starting setup is 9/10ths of the game, and that there is very little room for innovating once the game gets going.
This board represents an interesting (and even important) study in what can be accomplished with the tools the site offers map designers, but since it has gone live -- there are even more tools for designers, which undoubtedly would have been used by the designers of this board had they been available. Nonetheless, a very nicely designed "pure" game.
I love this brain teaser board!! It makes for a very challenging game. Kudos to Alpha & Mongrel!!! Way to add this board to the list. I will always be up for a thriller on this board!! Thanks again for your designing skills.
Perfect board. I love that it's all about strategy and not about dice. I've played on this board plenty of times and it never gets old, and never plays the same way twice.
A very innovative board that shows the range of wargear's map and rule system. It took me a few games to get the hang of this board, and I still feel like I am learning something new after 10+ games - a sign of a great board!
I love this board. No really I LOVE this board. It lends itself to almost 100% strategy. The only flaw is that black seems to have a head start, but I don't care. I still love this board.
This is an excellent 2-player strategy board. It's very balanced. I've only played version 6 but some of the other versions look interesting as well. Versions with the randomized starting squares make for some unique and challenging puzzles, making you re-adjust your strategy for each game.
The occasional lopsided start is not enough to pull down my perfect review of a board with such replayability and strategy. Every game is a different puzzle. The rest is summarized nicely by Midnight's review.
EDIT: The frequency of lopsided starts is more than I'd like to see. However, there is a large disparity between perceived advantage and actual advantage when it comes to placement, and I've witnessed many games that start great for an opponent but can be overcome by sound play. That said, the handicaps happen enough to take a .51 star off my review. Then I rounded.
I've only played it once so far, but it was fascinating. Truly a unique twist on the classic risk... I'd hesitate to even call it risk really, with the gameplay so different. I'd reccomment it to all who want/are in interested in a bit of a change.
