This needs to have the original 2v20 option as the hail mary save.
This is all important since it is a capital cities board. It would be preferred to be after the balloons to kill the darts and once you have the other player's dart, the 0v1 comes back in to play, unless you darts are switched. The event logic is much more complex; however, it the current form, one mistake and the game is over. The mistake is allowing your opponent to get a single bonus period.
gimmicky. Not really a risk board. it's connect 5 and should be called that. thought darts would be interesting. Maybe make it Cricket so it's more like real darts. I understand that I would need to play a few more games to "get it" but I have no interest in doing so. If I wanted to play five in a row I'd bust out my childhood toys.
It's not a Risk board but it is a Strategy board. With no dice luck and the style of gameplay, it really is in a different category than other Risk boards. The board does have a cool theme with an involved strategy of watching yourself along with ensuring your opponent is under control too. Clever board!
Dropping my Rating due to a solution having been found for the board.
Be willing to lose a couple games to learn the basics. Read the about or watch past games to get a flavor for how things work. Think 3 turns ahead, not just one turn ahead. The rest is up to you!
CiscoKid is correct in stating that it would be a mistake to let your opponent get a bonus. Solution: don't let your opponent get a bonus.
EDIT: the board has been found to have a guaranteed solution for one of the players. It's not obvious, but once found, the board will probably be over for you.
The idea behind this board is excellent and the theme does not distract from the game-play. Another great board from the Nygma / Mongrel map-making duo; that is if you like strategy only games using the risk engine. Since this game is in the strategy only genre, the question of whether it is solvable is still out there, can anyone figure out what is "perfect play" on this board?
This board was conceived as a pure strategy game, and it accomplishes it with a adroit style we've come to expect from the Nygma/Mongrel map-making duo. My only advice is that nothing is quite as it seems in this map -- the skilled player will control the board the whole time while allowing his opponent to believe the opposite!
I cannot help myself on this board...literally & figuratively! I love everything about it. The graphics are great, the gameplay is very challenging especially when you're up against players like Mongrel who know how to manipulate you without you even realizing it and the balance is perfect, which I hear is very hard to do with a 2-player game. There's no set way to play, so apart from my plummeting board ranking it's like I have a clean slate every game!
