Fun board that favors aggression. Your turn order can screw you if your turn is after a player who knows what their doing. I was pounced on in both games (by the player going just before me in turn order) before I had a chance to establish myself. There should be a mechanism in play to fix this imbalance .
Solid board with some pretty even action. A bit of a weird choke point in the ocean in the middle where you cant get to nearby continents. Add a port on the left side of the continent on the bottom right.
This board is great fun, with a fast paced, aggression inducing layout of easy bonuses.
However, the two right-most ships are touching and thus whoever starts first out of those two gets a massive advantage, basically screwing the 2nd goer from turn 1. As BB has stated below, balance would be restored by an intermediate neutral warship as there is on the left side of the board.
Overall quite fun. Due to the starting positions, you can find yourself starting the game with no warship or submarine. This can be easily fixed with an extra neutral warship.
But there's a trick - you can't ignore anything. Boats, cities, and continents - as well as the little islands all need your attention, or someone else will nuke you!
It seems to favor being aggressive and provides you with enough information (even with fog) to know what your oponents are doing.
The light dice mods make for a little tactical interest and the layout of the board is well balanced.
I found my games to be quick and lots of fun! Great Board!
