-- Out of Character Explanation --
The map is a bird's-eye view of 5 rooms. The square territories are floor tiles. Each floor tile you own represents a place that you are "standing" in the room. The walls are walls. The blue, shiny circles are windows looking from one room to the next. The green acidy looking water is an obstacle with no affect besides blocking your way.The boxes with hearts in them are "Companion Cubes."The floor tiles immediately next to the Companion Cubes are +1 bonus each, self-generating.While you are 'standing' in a room, you are holding a Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. Think of it as a 'gun.'You can use the portal gun to 'shoot' the walls (not the floors) via 1-way attack only borders. When you take possession of a wall space, you have created one opening of a 'portal.'All the portals are connected via Transfer Only borders. You can transfer to any connected territory. You get two transfers per turn. You may return to attack after transferring.Putting the last few points together means that you can create one end of a portal on a wall in one room, and the other end of a portal on a wall in another room, and transfer armies "through the portal" from one room to another. You can shoot your portal gun only in Up, Down, Left, Right straight lines. You can shoot your portal gun through the windows to distant walls. You can shoot your portal gun over the watery obstacle. You can NOT shoot your portal gun past or through a Companion Cube.YOU CAN ONLY TRANSFER THROUGH A PORTAL IF YOU HAVE THE FLOOR SPACE NEXT TO BOTH ENDS. ie - no jumping halfway across the room.Portals are unstable. Any units left in a portal will be lost at the start of your next turn.
