Huge first seat advantage in small games. Beyond that it is a nice, straight forward board.
One disadvantage is that continents are marked in a different way than most other boards on WarGear, which makes it difficult. While most boards mark the external borders of a continent with a particular colour, this board marks the internal borders.
Not one of my favorites i would say. this board has a HUGE advantage for first movement in a small game, which makes tournaments rely on only turn placement rather than either strategy or luck. Not to mention the French Flag in the background feels like an eyesore when looking at it a lot.
Its a good balance map for people to start in the corners, but it lacks the incentive to then leave the corners. Make Paris 2 territories with a big (15) unit bonus.
Love this board. First players do have a big advantage, and luck seems to sway quite a bit in both directions. If you can get a grasp on those two things, it is a pretty fun board!
First mover advantage is quite big on this board, so avoid a two-player game. Telling bonus areas apart is also more difficult than usual. But can work well enough for multi-player when you're used to it.
