For many reasons, I think Hitler should be removed from the cards of German Wargear.
Germany have many great men or symbols to choose from.
Am I the only one to feel awkward ?
Yes. I sort of understand your issue, but at the same time when you think of "Germany" and "war", most people go to him first. Good or bad, that's how it is. You can ask the mapmaker to take it down if you're really offended, but personally I don't see any need to do so.
gets popcorn and eagerly awaits Cram finding this thread!
Vataro, I don't feel so offended myself, but I think some could be. It could also give a bad image to WarGear...
It's not a big issue anyway, just the fact that I don't like it.
Dr. Horrible (who is a prick) uses a picture of Paris Hilton for one of the cards in Risk vs Reward, does that hurt Wargear's image?
Most probably :-)
One could argue that the wild card image on German Wargear could hurt Wargear's image, but they shouldn't. (They're not called wild cards for nothing.)
I can see where many people in Germany wish that Hitler was not the person most people think of when asked "Name a famous German."
Toto probably should have sent a PM to KrocK first with a polite suggestion instead of making his case here, because I am sure he doesn't want a big debate about it.
Perhaps it's worth a discussion, idk. I personally have no qualms about it though.
I think Hitler should stay, but only on the condition that he's playing a banjo or doing something equally ridiculous.
I... can't find anything wrong with this line of reasoning...

It could be worse. See above. Option 3.
Also, just in general, history happened. History is happening now. Men have been committing atrocious, genocidal acts on each other since before they could write down that they were doing it. Men are still, today, this very moment, committing genocidal acts on each other and celebrating it.
Using the image of one such man, in context, is not celebrating genocide any more than rolling virtual dice in the conquest of Germany, Europe, The World, Mars, or Risky's apartment are celebrating war. Used in context, an image of Hitler, Genghis Khan, Henry VIII, Abraham Lincoln, or a Spanish Inquisitioner serves to remind us of what kind of shitty things can happen when you quit thinking for yourself and let one man lead a whole nation roughshod over their own expectations of right and wrong and thus roughshod over their neighbors and even their friends and family.
So no, the first paragraph, for those who quit reading there, was not a "get over it" comment at all. It was just to give a little perspective. Feeling uncomfortable at the sight of someone who led other people to such terrible acts as Hitler did is a good thing. Remember that feeling of discomfort. Embrace it. Make sure the idea of killing someone else because the guy in charge says you're better than they are stays disgusting and uncomfortable. The next time someone tells you that killing someone else is for the good of the nation/your god/the world/themselves, remember that feeling. The other option is to feel nothing, and such complacency is also evil.
So, leave the Hitler card in there to remind you that the world would be a better place if we could resolve all our difference through a good game of RISK (and celebrate the fact that its not a picture of David Hasselhoff in a speedo).
Now a Glen Beck card would offend me, I don't care what map it's used for

The gauntlet is thrown. Someone make a map in which a Glen Beck card fits in context and which isn't pornography.
It would be a map where everyone loses every game no matter what happens..
Hmm... that's actually doable, I think...

I recall a map with two islands that was impossible to win; seems fitting.

Work in progress....

Please note that I used a Glen Beck card and a Hasslehoff in a Speedo card
love the wild card on that one.
