I have a 4 player map 3 v 1 SG so there are set starting positions but I don't really want to assign colors but for some reason I can't for the life of me remember if that is possible and if so how to do it. Do I just create the setup with the seat numbers and have more colors than that and it'll work itself out when the game starts? I think that is right but I also think that doesn't work.

I think that works fine. Make sure you have 'lock starting bonus' to seat position. & 'lock colors to seat position' to off.
