I just took a player out and got their cards.  It told me I must turn in cards before I continue.  When I place the units from turning in the cards and hit "Apply" I get an error that says "Invalid phase selection".  I click "Retry" and continue to get the same error.  I can't proceed.  Please help.

board says you can have upto 6 cards. i believe that to mean if you have 7 you're forced; 6 you're not force. 

if that doesn't clear it up, then cancel out instead of retry and see if it allows you back to the placement or attack phase.

Thank you, weathertop.  I hadn't thought to check the cards, however, I do not have more than six cards.  I tried cancelling out instead of retry, but it doesn't allow me back to the placement or attack phase.  All phases are greyed out.

That's not correct - if the max is 6 and you have 6 then you are forced to Trade.
