Reflecting back, I'm noticing that I've had an awful hard time winning games on maps I've designed, which seems strange as I know every nuance on the boards. Just wondering if other designers have had similar troubles and, if so, why they think that is?
I'll just throw a couple explanations out there.
Some of my boards hate me.
But seriously, I wonder that a good designer is considering what is challenging to them.
I'm dead last on most of my boards. -notably squirrels and balance. -seriously, it's embarrasing.
Honestly though, I think I designed those boards to play a certain way, and I want to play them that way:
and the simple fact is, that's not the best way to play them.
To quote Mad Bomber: "I'm sorry to keep you under 900 on your own map"
*facepalm*
Darn decent of you to apologize though MB.
Yeah, that sounds like Mad Bomber, lol.
That has been one of the strangest disappointments as a map-maker for me.
I spend hours and hours on a board, am super eager to play it and then get my ass kicked.
Interesting thread wouldn't of thought about that. If it makes you guys feel better three of you has a board where you're at the top of my concern list. Escherdiles, WOTR, LOTGR...
