There's very little board info available outside the Player. Basically the rules and an image of the map graphic. No way to get info on territories/borders/continents etc.
Particularly when deciding whether to join a game on a board you haven't played (or, in my particular case, desiring to do early evaluation of a brand new DEV board), shouldn't one be able to get this sort of information on a board without having to join or start a game and launch the Player once the game begins?

True - the decision was made early on to incorporate all the board related information into the Player so that the code only had to be kept up to date in one place. Perhaps there could be a cut down version of the Player which would allow browsing of the board info outside the Player? Other than that it would have to be javascript based which would be a lot of work to develop and maintain.
I see. It's probably not that important.

Not at all really.
I personally found this issue the other day when I wanted to see more about a map before joining it and could not. Set-up mod type information is nice too if you're going to be in a fog map and don't know anything about neutral counts etc.

Ooh, good point
