AfroDaby just resurrected the "Username Meaning" thread, and it made me want to ask about Profile Pics.
Mine is Augusto Sandino, a Nicaraguan revolutionary who ousted the US marines from Nicaragua back in 1933. He was well-known throughout Latin America for his nationalist philosophy, his eloquent and widespread writing in Latin America newspapers, and his success at waging guerrilla warfare against the well armed marines. He's always been a hero of mine, even though I am also, contradictorily, a pacifist.
Great topic! My profile pic is cover art from ES Posthumus' single Unstoppable. I found ES Posthumus in college and decided that it was great music to study to, although that particular single is a little too climatic. The cover art itself is David holding Goliath's head after he had struck him down and decapitated him with his own sword. When thinking of a profile pic I immediately thought of that picture as being a BA choice.
will have to check out ES Posthumus a bit more, they sound a bit like Enygma!
mine's a bit easy, it's the Mandalorian symbol from Star Wars (think Boba Fett). I used to really like Star Wars (I've been called a fanatic before).
Even easier. It's a flying squirrel with a sword that's glowing.
He's yelling "I have the power!"
Smiley face with an afro. Fits me just fine...except that I don't have an afro. See the username meaning thread for why the afro
Mine is molecular orbitals. I'm a chemistry nerd...
Cool stuff, and I have a new group to listen to on Spotify as well :)
Yeah a lot of people like to listen to music that is on the calm side when they are studying or trying to concentrate. I liked going in to beast mode and putting on something epic.
Ratsy, I always thought that was a cat with its head angled down.
Really?
*intensely squinting at profile pic* ... I don't see it...
And to be fair, I always thought Cain and Able when I looked at yours. (i'm happy to be close)
Idk from a zoomed out look, the mouth was the ear and the ear hole was the right eye. I suppose I need glasses.
I always saw a cat with a sword taking a selfy.

I always just thought you were a fan of Caravaggio.
Mine's pretty obvious, but just in case you are not familiar with it, it's a reference to this poem:
I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear: 'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Oh yeah, now I see it... he's looking downish - like over his shoulder.

One of my favs.
I'm not convinced. I still think it's a cat.
Whenever I see ratsy's profile picture, I just think it must be something from wonderpets and "what kind of work, teamwork... What kind of work, teamwork" starts running through my head. The memory associations that one has when kids determine what's happening in one's environment can be painful sometimes!
I can't see the cat at all...if it's a cat looking down, what's the arm that's holding the sword?

i knew it was a rat, but thought it looked like a squirrel...
