Thoughts?
This is gonna be an interesting thread.
I'll weigh in by tomorrow on the boards I've played
The idea was mentioned that we have too many boards, and with 35... I'm definitely part of that. It's tough for me to let go of things like Pong... where people don't play it, but it was a big milestone for me. I sorted my games by fewest number of games. Plink is on that list too.
I'm happy to retire anything, I just don't want to take away a map somebody secretly loves.
I always liked Horse, personally, though it doesn't get much play.
That said, definitely don't get rid of Plink!
Also, if you want to offend me. Tell me to add Spy vs Spy to the list ;) It's my favorite creation, and I'm the only one who has started a game on it in 2016.
Boy, I thought it got some play not that long ago. Seems to me IRSmart won a tourney or two on it.
Don't drop SvS. I don't play Simulgear, but if I did..
It's not simulgear.
oh.. . Was it on Tos?
It didn't exist on ToS
I quite like Spy v Spy. I used to play it quite a bit, and it was a major inspiration for my Dolmabahce Sarayi board, which I am proud of even though it's not wildly popular.
I haven't played any of the boards on the likely or maybe lists, but let me suggest that you not retire any boards with a high rating. Gila Mongers, for example, has an average rating of 8.70, which is pretty darn high. Even Communicating Doors at 7.17 seems like it should be a keeper. I would also say you keep all the ones in the "Should I?" category. That's my two cents
How about, which boards should go? I'm surprised to see a pull for Horse.
I think Dodgeball and Tanks are pretty welcomed losses. Gila monsters has 77 open games ever. Dodgeball has 52. Communicating Doors has been played 7 times since 2012...
I do like these boards:
Chain Game
Communicating Doors
Horse
btw -
In general I am against retiring boards. I understand your motivation but I wish rather boards could be separated into "active" and "for connoisseurs" or something like that. I don't think retiring boards is going to matter one way or the other for people playing on this site.
Like an Archive list that does't come up on the board list, it only exists if you go looking for it?
Too bad we can't simply de-activate a board. I know we can un-retire a board, but that seems to screw up the rankings.

Yeah - something like that.

I'd much rather something like this.
I personally enjoy playing Gila and Doors; I join one whenever i see one open. i think both were on the resurrection board group's list of to play.
