Hey just curious what actually happened to the server for the whole site to go down like that?
Never realized how addicted to war gear I actually was. I was like a crack addict every day at work checking the site and not being able to play my games haha
The games table in the database which holds all the game information crashed which meant no more game data could be written and the mySQL server generally went haywire as a result as it got backed up with queries which couldn't be executed.
After working with the hosting company this was determined to be caused by a memory problem on the server. In the end it was decided migrating to a new server was easier which is where were are today :)
It was almost a miracle you got almost everything intact then. That or you have a good backup scheme.
I guess this explains why we've been having bugged history logs in some games lately.
There was a similar crash a few weeks ago as well but things went back to normal after 1 day iirc. Don't know if you were aware of that.
Well done getting things in order good sir!
How long for folks to make "catch-up" moves?
See the main post in the site announcements Shredder.

The data is continuously replicated to a backup server. Yes, the earlier issues could have been related in retrospect.
