I've made a number of changes to the month's free Premium allocation and also improved the notifications as follows:
1. New accounts require activation via the email address provided to ensure they are accurate. This should also make it a little bit tougher for multi accounts to get set up plus easier to track them and close them down.
2. New members no longer get Premium access initially. Once they have been a member of the site for a month and are still active members they will get an offer of a month's free premium membership which they can take up by clicking on a button on the account page - an email is sent out offering this automatically. The thinking behind this is that new players don't really appreciate the benefits of Premium till they've been around a while.
3. Three days before your Premium membership expires a notification email is sent out.
4. New in site 'growl' notification system used to notify of membership about to expire / expired / free membership offer for those who don't check their email. More on this soon as it's a nice way to notify you of things.
