Over the last few months several wargear mapmakers have been creating new maps all with a single theme (Escher/Tessellations). To make things even more exciting, Tom has put up $100 for the winners. Everyone is invited to vote on these boards to help decide the winner. The only requirement is that you must play at least one game on every board in the contest before voting. Voting will be open until the end of April.
To keep the voting thread clean, this thread is for general discussion of the contest. To vote, you must go to this thread:

Hopefully this will be a good contest. Every one of the maps has already passed review.
HexGear has an open team tournament right now:

I just created tournaments for Hex:

and Escherdiles:

Except Kensington...
i was just going to post that.
It would most likely pass review as is. I'm waiting for some more games to see if things ought to change. Games on it haven't been filling. Hoping the competition will fix that.

I have never played a dev game before.
It looks like there are no open games. I tried to create one, but it wouldn't even let me select the number of players.
How can I try this board out?
go to the boards page, click the little green bug so it will show you all boards in beta.
or you could go direct to the board page
http://www.wargear.net/boards/view/4113
clicking on the create game button there will give you:

Both approaches wind up in the same place. I'm unable to change the number of players. (If it matters, I'm using Safari on OS X.)
If you create a game I'll play it. But I can't seem to successfully create a dev game on that board.
Seems to be something a bit weird with the scenarios. Usually you do not get the scenario drop down if there is only one scenario. I wonder if that is the reason for the bad behavior.
weird. I can choose (using FF19.0).
i created one here: http://www.wargear.net/games/join/246125
Ozy: yeah i'd agree. I created multiple scenarios as placeholders, but I didn't want them to be published yet (not even near ready) so i deleted the extras for now. This is different than one that's developed without an option for multiple scenarios. However, I don't think that's the issue here as clearly I can create. Were you able to select how many players?
Is anyone else seeing the same thing - or could it just be btilly's interface?
I had the drop down for # of players.

I had the drop down as well. But when I clicked on it, I couldn't change it.
Ok - I just checked & I can change it. I setup a 4-person game if anyone wants in:

I am in both that game and in http://www.wargear.net/games/join/246125. I would appreciate it if someone else could jump in since this is the only board in the contest that I have not played.
There's an open tournament for HexGear, but it's taking a while to fill up: http://www.wargear.net/tournaments/view/999
